A Day to Rehabilitate Hunger – 4/10/14 Sat, 05 Apr 2014 14:40:22 +0000 Mike Studer Continue reading ]]> Northwest Rehabilitation Associates will be open a full 24 hours during its “A Day to Rehabilitate Hunger,” which will help fight local hunger.

From 7 a.m. Thursday, April 10, through 7 a.m. Friday, April 11 physical therapists will see patients for 24 hours straight – at their primary location of 3270 Liberty Road S. Proceeds from the patient visits will be donated to Marion-Polk Food Share. Also, patients and the community are invited to make nonperishable food and cash donations to benefit the regional food bank.

Clinic owners Mike and Diane Studer are committed to giving back to the community and helping vulnerable families.

“When you consider that $10 is enough to deliver a 3-to-5 day supply of food to a family in need, making a difference is very doable,” said Mike Studer, additionally adding: “We encourage donations in the form of cash, as we additionally understand that MPFS’s buying power exceeds that of any of us as individuals and businesses donating food items.”

While drop-ins are welcome, it is best to call ahead to make an appointment,  503-371-0779.

Last year, NWRA collected 146 pounds of food and $2,000 from patient donations and proceeds of the clinic’s Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy visits during this 24-hour period.

The rehabilitation and wellness clinic will partner with Liberty Rd S. neighbor The ACME Café, and local companies 1-Day Signs as well as the Willamette Valley Fruit Company to benefit the nonprofit Marion Polk Food Share.

Yes, we will again be open to see patients through these hours, donating proceeds to Marion Polk Food Share. Last year, we raised over $2700 in food and cash donations – let’s go bigger this year! Remember, MPFS’ buying power is greater with their discounts – they would prefer cash donations, yet are appreciative of all!

2014 Clinical Excellence in Geriatric PT - Mike Studer

I would like to extend a sincere and humble thank you, going out to the friends, family, colleagues and fans of NWRA.  I, Mike Studer, am writing this blog and am honored to report that I have received the 2014 Clinical Excellence Award from the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy (formerly Geriatric Section) of the American Physical Therapy Association. This award would not be possible without my wife, my family (at home and NWRA) and my colleagues. The nomination and supporting letters were enough to bring me to tears. Thank you all. Know that I will continue to push myself in clinical practice and beyond, toward more excellence – - the bar just goes up again!

Athletic training – World Class Ultramarathoner Sat, 17 Aug 2013 21:40:43 +0000 Mike Studer Continue reading ]]> “As an ultramarathoner doing high mileage weeks and many long races, I am bound to get a few tweaks and niggles from running every now and then. The physical therapists at NWRA have been
especially helpful in getting me through some of my more serious issues. From a thorough workup to an individualized treatment plan with handouts detailing very specific exercises, their approach
is both personal and professional. This attention has kept me going strong without any significant gaps in my training for the last four years. And while they may advise some alterations to my
running program, I really appreciate that they have never advised me to take extended time off from running. I have recommended NWRA to several of my closest friends and family, as well,
for the excellent care that they provide.”
